Meet Cochise, Quest's brother.
His formal name is Amsburg's Own Cochise
and he is the king of "chuntering."*
Cochise joined our household at nine months old. Although he is Quest's brother, they have very different personalities - as all dogs do. But, his life as a kennel dog affected him in many ways. He'd lived in the country and then he moved to the city. Timid and shy, everything scared him. Unfamiliar noises set him quaking in his boots. He was afraid of people and didn't know who he should or could trust.
As time has passed, his problems have decreased, but he's still a bit "off-center." He *loves* meeting new people and his gentle greetings are always welcome by newcomers and old friends alike. A loving, devoted companion, I'm sure he'd prefer being in a one-dog family. He doesn't like to share my company with the other canine family members and occasionally, this causes problems. Most of the time, tho, he manages quite well in a multiple-dog home. As for me, I love this guy and wouldn't part with him for anything in this world.

Cochise
Timid soul What troubles you Mysterious sounds Everything new
Now at home
Found your place
Still quite coy
Sweet, innocent face
Pleasant demeanor
Hard to resist
You show your affection
With many a kiss
A soft spot for you
No one can deny
Simply because
You're such a sweet guy

Day One
Cochise had just left his home. He was 9 months old and knew no other place. He was confused and very unsure what was happening. I had just called his name and he was ready to bolt. |
|
Decision Made
Moments later, though, Cochise decided to come to me. I was thrilled! |

A Merry Chase
Cochise met Raider and decided he liked being the leader of this big dog. |

A Very Happy Cochise
Corgis are famous for their smiles. Cochise's smiles came very slowly, though, and for a long time there was only a hint of that magical corgi personality. Even today, smiles aren't an every day thing, so they are all the more precious when they do show up.

The Flyin' Frog Dog
Another smile! This
one is accompanied by the famous flying frog (or squirrel) pose. I
wonder - is this a short-legged dog phenomenon? My bulldogs did the
very same thing

Co Discovers the Beach
Quite by accident, I discovered
Cochise LOVES water. Not swimming pools, not out of a hose, but
rivers and the ocean. He's fascinated by water and erupts in sheer,
unabandoned racing and exploration. Here, he's contemplating his
first encounter with driftwood

One Handsome Corgi
This is one of my favorite pictures of Cochise. I simply changed it to black and white from a color photograph and this is the result. It captures Cochise honestly and in a way most photos can't.
